Exchange frequently questions

What are the Keys?

They are internal credits that allow you to book stays in other homes within the Vivla community. They are not money — they represent access.

How do I earn them?

By sharing weeks from your home.

  • If you list your week more than 9 months in advance (in mid or high season), you earn Keys instantly.
  • If you list it less than 9 months in advance or in low season, you earn Keys only when another owner books your week.

What if I use my own home during a week I had listed for exchange?

That week doesn’t count toward loyalty rewards.

How much are they worth?

Their value depends on the property’s location, category, booking lead time, and season.

Do they expire?

Yes. Each Key lasts 24 months, but we’ll notify you ahead of time (90, 30, and 7 days). You also have a one-time 12-month extension to avoid losing them.

Do the Keys have any monetary value?

No. They cannot be converted into cash or transferred to other owners. They are a symbolic system of access and balance within the community.

Where can I see my Keys?

In your Vivla app. You’ll always see your Key wallet. When browsing the exchange pool, you’ll see the cost of each stay in Keys and have a clear record of all your movements — like a personal travel bank.

Are there any extra fees?

No.

What if I don’t have enough Keys?

You can earn more by listing additional weeks for exchange.

How do I list a week?

In your app: go to Calendar → select the week → mark it as “Exchange.”

Can I withdraw it later?

Yes, as long as it hasn’t been booked and was listed in low season or less than 9 months in advance.

What if I received Keys instantly and now want to withdraw the week?

You can’t withdraw it — those Keys are already active.

What is a 1:1 exchange?

When you list a week that matches another owner’s listed week on the same dates, both of you receive a notification to see if you’d like to book each other’s homes.

Who will stay in my home?

Always verified Vivla members and their guests.

Can I transfer my reservation to a family member?

Yes, to your partner or adult child — just notify us in advance.

Is my home insured?

Yes. All reservations are covered by our included protection against damages.

What happens if there’s damage?

After each exchange, your property is inspected. If you notice anything additional, report it and we’ll activate the claim process.

What if I cancel my reservation as a guest?

You’ll recover your Keys only if your week is rebooked by another owner.

What if the guest cancels a stay in my home?

The Keys are already in your wallet and will never be withdrawn.

What do I earn if I invite a friend?

If your friend joins Vivla by purchasing a share, you receive 2 extra Keys.

What if my Keys expire?

You have 24 months to use them plus a one-time 12-month extension. We’ll always remind you in advance.

What if I sell my share or stop being an owner?

Your balance is frozen, and you can use your remaining Keys on experiences before you leave.

What if I can’t find a suitable home before my Keys expire?

Our Guest Experience team will help you find options so you can make the most of your Keys.

What if there’s more demand than supply?

The system stays balanced — Keys are created only when someone lists a real week. This prevents inflation and ensures homes are always available.

Can I combine Keys with money?

No. Keys have no monetary equivalent. If you want more, simply list new weeks for exchange.

What if I want to travel but have my home used less often?

You decide how many weeks to share each year. Your Keys and travel opportunities depend on that contribution.

What if my weeks are worth less than a premium home?

You can combine Keys from several weeks or choose shorter stays to reach premium homes.

Is there a limit to how many Keys I can accumulate?

No maximum limit — just remember each Key has a 24-month lifespan.

How is the value of the Keys calculated?

It’s based on your home’s value and the season you share it. Premium homes in top locations and high season generate more Keys; smaller homes or low-season weeks generate fewer.

Is this better than renting my home?

The value of your Keys reflects what you’d earn renting your home — but often even more, since you avoid platform fees and commissions. Every week you share opens the door to hundreds of homes in the community.
